Launched in 2013, The Creative Quarter (CQ) is Nottingham’s flagship project for economic growth, enterprise and entrepreneurial spirit.
What is The Creative Quarter?
CQ – Place
The Creative Quarter area is centred around The Lace Market, Hockley, Sneinton Market and Pennyfoot Street areas – home to BioCity, the UK’s largest bioscience incubation centre. It has become a place for innovation and the home of thriving independent entrepreneurs and businesses. Equally, it’s a place with a lively social life, day and night, from bars, pubs and a buzzing nightlife, to cafes, restaurants and bistros to suit every taste, plus an incredible variety of art, culture and heritage experiences for visitors, residents and businesses.
CQ – Initiative
The Creative Quarter initiative was inspired by Nottingham’s 2011 Growth Plan. It’s a collaborative project working to transform the Creative Quarter area, and in turn, create economic growth and jobs for the rest of the city and the wider region. Our priority sectors include Life Sciences, Creative & Digital Industries, Social Enterprise and Independent Retail & Leisure. Plus, of course, we’re also here to champion culture, talent, collaboration and social innovation.
CQ – Company
The Creative Quarter Company was set up to deliver the CQ Initiative, working alongside our many partners and champions. Our collective vision is to make the Creative Quarter area the place to be for creative businesses and great city living, by supporting:
Supporting enterprise, entrepreneurship and innovation.
Attracting and developing highly skilled and diverse talent.
Shaping a dynamic, exciting place to live, work and play.
