In the heart of the Creative Quarter, lies a hidden-gem. Debbie Bryan’s Studio & Shop.
Since exhibiting at Germany’s leading Applied Art & Design show in Nottingham’s twinned city of Karlsruhe, Debbie has met some brilliant designers, makers and artists.
Together Debbie and Creative Retail Apprentice Katie have complied a list of some of their five hot-right now artists:
In 2013, Leonore Jock became one to add to that list. From this international artist comes her vibrantly, uber-distinctive contemporary jewellery. Having met through the Eunique Show and the Creative Twinning project, friendships were formed for Leonore and Debbie to swap collections and for her to sell exclusively to our Nottingham shop. Never look dull again wearing these amazing pieces.
Being her number one fan from the start, Corrina Rothwell is a fabulous favourite of ours. Over the years we have commissioned four Lace Market & three Nottingham Castle Illustrations. With their wonderfully humorous tones, they fit perfectly in our Creative Quarter shop.
Having trained in Lancaster nearby Debbie’s home of Morecambe, there was a homely connection with Peter Clayton.
Seeking the best places to showcase his work, Peter, based at the Leicester Print Workshop, came to love our shop and the way we run our business.
Peter’s print work is made using silk screen, lino printing and various mixed media. With flavours of romance, musical lyrics and twins, Peter’s work had a multitude of meaning.
Mutual appreciation soon followed as Peter’s work has a superior quality and was first choice when we wanted to commission a special gift for Joanne (top sales lady, brilliant chocolate brownie maker & talented floral diva). The result was The Florist.
In 2012 we were very pleased to launch the Nottingham Festivial of Words at Debbie Bryan’s Studio & Shop. Collaborating with several local writers and artists to explore narrative in art, design and craft, Peter was a welcomed guest.
We met Barinder Gahir through the Design Forum Trend Library and became the first stockist to her beautifully designed silk scarves.
Bringing a sense of summer elegance, her collections are timeless. Along with her distinct talent, Barinder brings with her a sunny personality when visiting our shop. We love Barinder, her work and she loves us! She was recently interviewed for the BBC about her work and Barinder gave us a wonderful mention.
Debbie has to be on the list, it’s her shop! To see her work first hand, pop in!
