The Sneinton Market area has been identified as a special focus area as part of the development of the Nottingham City Centre Masterplan. As the first step in this process, a workshop was held on Thursday 12th September with a group of key stakeholders – landowners, developers, local businesses and residents - to pick out constraints and opportunities, and to help inform a vision for the area.
Invest NewsThe Sneinton Market workshop was led by David Rudlin, from URBED and Chair of Nottingham City Council’s Design Review Panel, and supported by the Creative Quarter.
The workshop was held in the Clubhouse in Victoria Park. It started with a walkabout around the area, along Handel Street and Aberdeen Street, Carlton Road, around Sneinton Market Avenues, Boston Street, Brook Street and Bath Street and St Mary’s Rest Garden.
30 people attended and participants worked in 3 smaller groups to prepare a SWOT analysis, look at examples of creative quarters from the UK and around the world, and then come up with a vision for what a successful Sneinton Market area should look like.
The results will now be analysed by Nottingham City Council Urban Design Team and Planning and the initial ideas emerging from this event will be taken later on to a wider community/business consultation. Further details will be shared on the Creative Quarter website as the masterplan develops.
