Learn KnowledgePicture this, you’ve got a great idea for a new creative startup - that’s the first piece in the puzzle done. But what’s next? You need to market your creative idea and get people talking about it. Naturally you turn to the internet and social media. With over 2 million blog posts published every day, what can you do to make yours stand out of the crowd?
How do I get started
Getting started with a website doesn’t have to be complicated. There are many online services that help you get started in just a few minutes. Free hosting for blog sites is not hard to come by. The limitation here is that you are often restricted to how much customisation you can apply and even how many people can access your pages in a month. For many starting out, spending money is the last thing that they want. However, a small investment in this area will save a lot of time and effort further down the road when you discover that the free site you found just isn’t suitable for running a business.
Finding your host
One of the most popular tools used to build a new website is Wordpress - it is used by nearly 75 million websites to host websites and blogs around the world. As it is such a widely used tool, there is a wealth of information online to help you get started. The first step is getting started is deciding where you will host your Wordpress site. When looking for a host, the important factors are speed and control. You want a site that will load quickly otherwise people won’t stick around.
Get creative
You’ve had your business idea and setup your website. Everything is looking great. Next up is getting content published to bring readers to your site. The easiest way to do this is to start a blog section on your site. This content needs to be creative and fresh. It needs to be relevant to your startup idea and you need to think carefully about the keywords that you want associated with your brand - these are the words that people will be searching for when your website shows up in the results. Once the writing is done, don’t forget to include at least one relevant image to accompany it. This will help make the overall page more appealing to visitors.
It’s all about the clicks
When your site is running and you’ve spend some time adding great content, the next thing is to attract visitors. If you have used the right keywords, some traffic will come via organic search. However, you also need to promote your site. Take to social media and share it with your followers. Make it easy to share your posts by adding share buttons to your posts. Perhaps even write some guest blogs on other popular pages to attract new readers.
Starting a website is a great way to get creative and market your great new idea or brand. With some careful planning and research, you can create an attractive website and blog to promote your new creative startup. Focus on creating high quality, relevant content so that once you have promoted the site, people have something interesting to keep them reading.
