The City of Nottingham is a great place to Live, Learn, Work and Invest due to the Arts and Culture scene

January 9th 2019

by Nottinghamshire Live

Nottingham's thriving music scene, festivals, art and culture offerings are making it a go-to city and helping to pump thousands of pounds into the local economy. That is the verdict of a report from Arts Council England - which has also explored how the organisation's support for creative and digital industries have made the city a 'great place to live, work and learn'.

The Nottingham Contemporary is one of the venues being supported

“With arts centres, contemporary galleries, nationally significant museums, a thriving library offer, a vibrant music scene, popular city-wide festivals like the annual Nottingham Mela, and exciting theatres, Nottingham is a wonderful city where the arts, culture, sport and heritage come together. We know arts and culture play a key role in the prosperity of towns and cities – attracting talent and new visitors, creating businesses, supporting jobs and strengthening local communities – and we’re really proud to be helping places across the Midlands achieve their ambitions.”

“We are immensely proud of Nottingham’s rich history and its cultural offering to residents and visitors alike. That’s from the positive economic impact of the city’s major attractions, right through to the wonderful offerings on a neighbourhood level and the community arts. We value the cultural partnerships that we have both here in Nottingham and further afield, and we welcome the Arts Council’s continued investment in the city.”
