Light Night 2022 will take place on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 February, and the organisers are inviting proposals from artists and community groups around the theme ‘Rebel City.’
Work OpportunitiesNottingham Light Night 2022 will be the thirteenth edition of this highly successful event, which brings high quality accessible work to Nottingham city centre after dark and attracts thousands of visitors across a range of demographic backgrounds.
A number of innovative, interactive and engaging installations, performances and activities will take place across the city.
Funding for a number of artist-led commissions is available, worth between £1,000-£3,000 per project. In addition, community-led commissions can access up to £500 per project. Proposals are invited to focus on the theme of ‘Rebel City’. However, creatives are welcome to submit other ideas that add vibrancy, ambition and a unique offer, to the event.
The 2022 event will again take place across two nights on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 February. The event is expected to attract 50,000 people, with a social media reach of over 600,000. The event is co-ordinated by Nottingham Events with support from Nottingham Business Improvement District (BID).
Artist-led commissions
Light Night are inviting artists and creatives either working independently, or as a part of a collective, - possibly involving either Nottingham based local communities and/or local businesses - to present a commission as a part of the event.
The commissions should be presented across both evenings (5pm - 10pm nightly), with any build or rehearsal requirements able to be accommodated 24-hours prior, meaning that access to proposed event locations will be no earlier than 5pm on Thursday 3rd February.
Projects may build on or present existing work; your proposal doesn’t have to be a new commission. The available budget for commissions is £1,000 - £3,000 (exclusive of VAT) per project.

Community Micro Commissions
Light Night are inviting local community groups, including Nottingham based not for profit organisations, amateur artists and creatives either working independently, or as a part of a collective to present one of the planned micro commissions as a part of the event.
The commissions should be presented on at least one of the two nights of the event (between 17:00 – 22:00), with any build or rehearsal requirements able to be accommodated on the day of the event, meaning that access to proposed event locations will be no earlier than 8am.
Projects may build on or present existing work; your proposal doesn’t have to be a new commission. The available budget for the micro-commissions is up to £500+VAT.
